How To Measure

For a Potty Pail™ Plumbing Adapter

Please read carefully and follow these simple measuring guidelines:

* Important Notes *

  • If you have a solid or hard piped supply line you will need to replace it with a flexible supply line, this is very easy and cheap to do (and a good idea too if you haven't replaced it in a very long time). We suggest a braided stainless steel toilet supply line.

  • You MUST have at least 7 inches of clear space above the supply valve if you do not have this clearance please request an LC adapter in the paypal "comment box" when ordering so we can make a custom adapter for you at no additional charge. .

  • If your supply hose comes out of the left or right side of the valve instead of straight-up please request an LCR or LCL in the paypal "comment box" when ordering so we can make a custom adapter for you at no additional charge.

  • We CAN NOT accommodate PEX type plumbing UNLESS you use a standard toilet supply valve and hose.

    The easiest way to find out if you have a standard toilet supply hose is to take a 5/8" open end wrench and place it on the hose nut that attaches your toilet's supply hose to the toilet supply valve. If it fits, then you have a standard 3/8" compression-type valve and hose. "Yes, it fits! Take me back to the Order Page."    If you do not have a 5/8" open end wrench proceed to Step One.

    Step one
    There are three types of "Toilet Supply Line" fittings that connect up to the "Toilet Supply Shut-Off Valve",   1.   3/8" Compression (most common)  2. 1/2" Compression (not very common)  3. 1/2" NPT (rare). To determine which one you need, take out a ruler, a piece of scrap paper and a pair of scissors. Cut a strip of paper approximately 3/8" wide. Now, cut off a piece of the strip EXACTLY - 2 & 1/4" long. At this point it will look something like "a fortune out of a fortune cookie" that would say, "Your life is about to change for the better!"  Ok, next, go to your "Toliet Supply Shut-Off Valve". Where the "Toilet Supply Line" from the water tank meets the shut off valve there is a nut, wrap the strip of paper around this nut (see the pictures below). If the strip meets end to end or overlaps a little then, bingo,you're done! You need a 3/8" Compression adapter. If the strip is too short and there is a large gap (approximately 3/8" long gap) then bango, please go on to step two. "No, I'm done! Take me back to theOrder Page."

    Step Two
    To determine if you need the 1/2" Compression or 1/2" NPT adapter, once again take out a ruler, this time cut a strip of paper EXACTLY - 2 & 1/2" long. Once again wrap the strip of paper around the nut. If the strip meets end to end then, bingo, you need a 1/2" Compression adapter. If the strip is too short and there is a large gap (approximately 1/4" to 1/2" long gap) then you need the 1/2" NPT adapter. If you still need help please call or e-mail bongo.

  • "Now I'm done! Take me back to theOrder Page."
